No Child Left Behind Committee

ALGONA COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT

Agenda Items

1. Wellness survey report- I haven't done it yet.
The account is in the black, so what are options for a wellness program for our district? Some thoughts to get a wellness room for those who have the school insurance. This would include equipment and plans for personal wellness.
Dawn mentioned that her homeroom enrolled in the "100 Day Challenge". She challenged the district to get involved next year (January).

2. How was the move? Issues?- It took 3 hours. Had almost 200 people helping. Issues since the move-
Elementary Moves are being worked on. Rick will get us a specific week this summer that each building will get moved. Who moves where is being worked on now. Marty is hoping to get all this out in the next two weeks. Marty is also going to put out information very soon on positions that could be subject to voluntary transfers and the SAM position.
Marty hopes to have CA moved yet this month.
Rand Gale is retiring from the Garrigan special education position.
Dixie Doocy is retiring from an elementary special education position. Both may be filled within the district.

3. RTI—what things do we have in place that are helping? Do we have things that we need to let go of because they are not benefitting RTI?

Response to Intervention (RTI) is the practice of providing high-quality instruction and intervention matched to students' needs, monitoring progress frequently to make changes to instruction or goals, and applying child response data to important educational decisions.

Group responses when asked their idea about RTI: To help the needs of every student; to move students ahead no matter the level; get students who are struggling up to their grade level; students work toward their own mastery level

What things do we have in place that are helping?

What things do we have in place that are not helping?

Continue for next meeting. Read article page three to top of page four, then read "The Traditional School"--group 1, group 2 read "How can we help?", and group 3 read "How Can Focusing on Adam Help the System Improve?",
